peace out, earth, i <3 u
I stopped by earthfest this afternoon. highlights below:
-saw Cake and Cracker perform
-saw lots of zombies...they were carrying a sign- on one side it said "zombies for nixon" and on the other "brains not bombs". not sure what they were trying to say/do. lots of torn clothing and fake blood and graphic wounds. sorry, kids, no pics. but I do have a pic with a cute green monster...
-lots of kids with "free hugs" signs. while sitting with my friend on the bank of the Charles, a young man with a free hugs sign came and asked me if he could have a free hug. so I gave him one. he said thanks and left.
-lots of urban hippies and some strong whiffs of pot
-an interesting lady hovering around me and telling me in a mystical voice things I didn't totally understand...
-baby ducks and their mama. they are absurdly cute when they are paddling around slow with their moseying mama then suddenly zip across somewhere on turbo speed, as if they just got shot off a rubber band. ^^
-some dude wearing those early 90s shades...

i'd buy you rogaine
if you were losing all your hair
Last night I went to the Ingrid Michaelson concert!! It was SO great! Laura is jealous, but Ingrid's heading to SLC in July so Laura will get her chance. Unfortunate events prevented me from being a super fan and wearing my ingrid shirt that eebs gave me and I didn't get the jubilant dance party experience that she did, but it was still superb all around.
April Smith opened and I liked her music and her voice. Her keyboardist was so wonderful- AND he busted out this sweet mouth organ (that's what I'm going to call it since I don't really know what it is) on one song.
Ari Hest played. He was basically country. My friend Julia, who went with me, leaned over and asserted that he was definitely country. I proposed that he be called folk rock (thinking to my country roots and the fine line between him and them). She laughed and said he's so country it's ridiculous! Just so happens, nothing else was going on when she said that, and Ari was like "what was that- did I hear something?" [pause] "was that a cell phone?" the people around us looked and giggled and we laughed a lot. That was the best moment of Ari's segment (although we did agree that he had a nice, manly voice even though we weren't fans of his music).
I wish I had the talent and personality to be a musical performer. Music is my passion- it speaks to my soul, but I don't think it will ever be more than a personal hobby/enjoyment/etc. hmm, too bad.

And finally the awaited moment arrived when Ingrid and her band came on!! She was great- she is so funny and candid and casual. It was so fun and fantastic to watch her perform.

(some preliminary notes: I did this for the tutoring program that I do, and Jeff is the kid I tutor. He helped me with the "give" line.)
Tall as the clouds
Relative of Krrish, a purple giraffe, and love
Lover of tutoring Jeff, my bed and the sweet dreams it brings to me, eating delicious cuisine
Who feels the itch for summer sunshine, hungry a lot, like she wants a massage
Who gives great treats and tutoring to Jeff like you wouldn’t believe, crazy gold pants parties, end of the year parties, presents
Who fears hairy-legged centipedes under my bed, tiger breath, never-ending winter
Who would like to see the mysteries of the world, eebs back home, rainbows and sunshine

happy day, mom!
Nancy
Generous, do-it-all wonderwoman.
Relative of restless globetrotters, crazy elephants (a-rooo), lulus/pukus, doll-faced beaky-boos, critters, and some other borings ones with regular names.
Lover of decadent brownies, lazy movie nights, spider solitaire, her kids, her tomato plants and raspberry truffles.
Who feels ambivalent about choosing a grandmother name, urges drive all night so that she can fit more visiting and more places into her trips, happy when her kids remember her on mother's day and other days too.
Who gives up her bed for visitors, love and nurturing to everyone, dozens of eggs to anyone who will take them whether they asked for them or not!
Who fears grasshoppers more than anything, as well as being called ma.
Resident of lovely Pheasant Dr. in peaceful NorCal, home to blistering triple digit summers.
