more animal fun

Last night I went over to a friend's place for dinner. Her cousin was in town and she was house-sitting for a family whose kids she babysits on the side, so she had a few friends over for dinner. This family has two cats: one is the stereotypical aloof cat, but the other is the biggest fan of attention you ever saw. This one will approach you without any encouragement on your part, but if you even touch it with one finger then he thinks you're his best friend and becomes instantly attached to you. Another friend who also came, misses her cat and enjoyed meeting this friendly fellow. After dinner she picked him up and was immediately warned that "he drools!" She wasn't too worried though. She started scratching the kitty under his chin and immediately it was like a faucet turned on and this stream of cat slobber dripped to the floor. I have never seen a cat drool and I was not prepared for the waterfall that came out of this cat! You need a burping cloth if you are going to pet this fellow!

The friend who invited me to dinner is someone I actually didn't know extremely well, but I tell you, I had the most fun last night that I have had in ages. We just had dinner, played cards, had dessert, listened/sang to them playing guitars, took some silly pictures. I've had good times time and again, but last night was so totally comfortable and natural and absolutely fun. Nothing else but pure fun and relaxation. I haven't laughed like that in a long time- it was wonderful!! It was exactly what I've felt like I've been missing in Boston.
