Kari and I went to dinner at Joanna's place Wednesday night. Not only did we get to spend quality time with our dear friend who we barely keep in touch with although we all live in the same city, but we also got the bonus of meeting her fiance. It was a delightful evening of good conversation, laughter and delicious food. Joanna's place is one of those on a hill and the house is built on top of the garage, with stairs leading up the side to the front door, which miraculously is still at ground level because of the natural incline. Upon leaving, I was leading the way down the stairs. They get dark about halfway down where the porch light no longer hits them. In addition, the porch light is still shining on your face so it makes it look like a black abyss for all you know. So I was going slowly and made some comment about it being really hard to see. Joanna was just going in the front door and right then the light over the garage turned on and illuminated the way for me! I said, "Oh, thank you!" (in all sincerity, by the way) and Kari said, "It's an automatic light."
*ba-dum ching*
Then Kari and I went by Target on our way home and left as it closed- you know, when it's already closed actually and they are kicking all the slowpokes out. There was a Target employee standing just outside the exit and as we left he said Goodnight. We smiled and said goodnight to him as well, then realized he was probably actually talking to his coworker who was getting into a car right there just as we passed.
Those were my most brilliant moments of late.
