trying to play catch-up

so, apparently a few people are not pleased with my lackadaisical approach to blogging. let's peek through the ol' photo bin and see what delights filled my ever-delightful life since june 12.

well, first it looks like we celebrated flag day! we made this lovely cake, and the inside was red, white and blue, of course.

I caught the squirrel trying to eat our bag of thistle seed that we put out for the birds but they are never interested... btw, this is the squirrel who came into our house and ransacked our cookies on the 4th of july (there was a hole in the kitchen window screen that I wasn't careful about). So I bought duct tape and patched it up. That worked for awhile but today when I got home I saw his tracks all over the counters! darn that fellow! So I shut the kitchen window. I need to remember to put in a request for new screens. I don't know how that screen ever got a squirrel-sized hole in it. it was like that when we moved in...

I got a turtle friend in the mail.
I got a surprise birthday, complete with kennedy fried chicken...

some candlepin bowling...cake and ice cream...

and presents! (guess what was in this. oh ho - you'll just have to wait till you see the final delight on this list of delights. *P )

we took the grill on her maiden voyage. (he must be holding some pinneapple, which was grilled for dessert after the main dinner- veggie burgers, chicken, cheese wursts and veggie kabobs.)

we saw how tall of walls we can get on our german pancakes.

hiked a "mountain".
one which cars could drive to the top. the top was full of people.
and a grimy pond with huge tadpoles and a really cute bright orange salamander.

tried walking up the underneath of some stairs...
on our way to tour a real US Navy battleship (USS Bataan) where MC got a sailor...

and we finally made our first batch of .... you guessed it-- COTTON CANDY!!!

THE END!!!!
(finally.)

yours truly,
with the whole cotton candy thing, plus the cakes, I got thinking -- we should join forces. imagine that... what if you could be turned to the dark side? you'd be a powerful ally.
