our friend at work let us have her farmshare this last saturday- yay for veggies!!! In the pick-your-own section they had raspberries, tomatillos, husk cherries, and about 8 different kinds of chilis. I'm not familiar with most of them so we just picked some of each til we hit the limit. We chopped up some little wrinkly round yellow ones and added them to our sauteed veggies last night. They were mild and lovely. Today we we added one to our wraps for lunch. This one was longer than the others, but also yellow and wrinkly. eebs cut it in strips and I put together the wraps. Later I licked a little cream cheese off my finger and soon noticed a little tingling burn on my tongue and lips. We quickly realized that chilis cannot be generalized, but each variation makes a new chili and this one is HOT! as we kept getting burning lips and tongues with every brush of a finger, we realized we better take them out of our wraps. So, maybe 10 minutes after we made the wraps, we removed the peppers.

I'm back, reporting live after lunch. I opened the lunchbag and had misgivings when the first thing I smelled was a waft of chilis. We started eating our wraps and by the end it was a race to see if I we'd die or if we'd finish them. They were so spicy!!! wow. that was a spicy yellow pepper. we sipped on our water wishing we had milk. Then we started on our cookies, hoping they would appease the fire in our mouths. They helped a lot and at least I can function as a normal human being now. Earlier I was blowing my nose and red-eyed, like I had a big blow-out with my lunch. And we both have tingling lips to remember the experience by. It may never go away. They weren't even juicy chilis. It's amazing how much burn they left behind.

Hahaha! So much fun! What an exciting lunch. I'm impressed you two maintained your composure. :)
I don't know if you can call it maintaining composure...Leslie was crying her eyes out, while I was yelling "more cookies!!! more cookies!!" but yeah, very exciting
